  • Foreign bodies in the ears and nose
  • Foreign bodies in the esophagus and airway
  • Hearing loss in children
  • Laryngomalacia
  • Nasal fractures
  • Neck abscess
  • Nosebleeds
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • Sleep-disordered breathing
  • Swimmer’s ear (otitis externa)
  • Thyroid and neck masses
  • Tongue tie
  • Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy
  • Tracheal stenosis
  • Vocal cord paralysis

Why are children prone to ear infections?

Children are still growing and that means their immune system isn't fully functional yet, which makes it harder for kids to fight infection than it is for adults. The eustachian tubes, which extend from the middle ear and the back of the throat, are also still quite small in children. This can disrupt fluid from draining naturally and can become blocked quite easily, leading to infection. Our pediatric ENT specialists can prescribe antibiotics, lifestyle changes, flu vaccinations, and other treatments to clear your child's ear infection and prevent them from returning.

What if my child’s cold never goes away?

If your child's cold symptoms never seem to go away, it could actually be a common chronic sinus infection called sinusitis. Your child's pediatric ENT doctor at St. Luke’s University Health Network can do diagnostic tests to discover the trigger for your child's sinusitis and then prescribe effective treatments like medication, nasal irrigation, nasal spray, or allergy shots. In severe cases, your child might need a minimally invasive procedure called a balloon sinuplasty to clear their sinuses for lasting relief.
