Our team of pediatric cardiologists in the Lehigh Valley offers care in both a hospital and outpatient setting, tailoring care as needed. And our in-office pediatric echo technologists perform onsite testing during your child’s visit to get many of the answers you need before leaving your appointment. Comprehensive programs
Fetal Cardiology
A fetal echocardiogram is often performed in the second trimester of pregnancy and is a focused heart ultrasound to assess the structures and function of your baby's heart. We can diagnose, educate, and counsel families on all types of fetal heart defects, and we take pride in being an accessible resource for parents - to answer questions and guide families through the uncertainties of a heart defect found during pregnancy. We work closely with our St. Luke's Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics colleagues to care for both mother and fetus in the office and hospital setting, and we have excellent relationships with our colleagues at regional pediatric cardiothoracic surgical centers if newborn heart surgery is expected.
Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy is a collection of heart muscle disorders that can affect children, teenagers, and adults. These disorders may cause symptoms of heart failure—such as shortness of breath, tiredness, dizziness, and fainting. Our state-of-the-art Pediatric Specialty Center and the Heart and Vascular Center care for cardiomyopathy patients from infancy through adulthood. We can perform extensive diagnostic testing, including as the following:
- Arrhythmia monitor

- Cardiac MRI
- Echocardiogram
- Electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG)
- Exercise stress test
- Holter monitor
Additionally, our pediatric cardiologists in the Lehigh Valley collaborate with the St. Luke’s adult heart failure team—a group of specialists participating in international clinical trials and developing breakthrough therapies.
Cardiac sports clearance for athletes
We understand the role and importance of cardiac screening in athletes and are a resource to community providers and schools to get athletes quickly—but safely—cleared for participation. We work with families, athletic trainers, and schools to get athletes the correct cardiac screening based on a multitude of factors that include family history and cardiac symptoms. We have the capability to perform and interpret EKGs and echocardiograms during your office visit and have the flexibility to schedule and attend exercise stress tests if needed.

Consultations
Your child can see their doctor for an initial evaluation and follow-ups as necessary, based on your child's individualized care plan.
Testing
We often do many of the diagnostic tests in-office, alongside your appointment. This allows the team to quickly see results, answer questions, and tailor your child's care plan accordingly. Alternatively, testing can be completed at any of St. Luke's outpatient centers.
Reviewing results
You have easy access to your child’s provider, giving you a chance to review results.

You can work with your child’s provider to develop a treatment plan that works for the whole family.
