Quakertown, PA (2/10/11) – St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network administrators, clinicians and public officials announced today the opening of the 6,200 square foot St. Luke's Heart & Vascular Center at 1532 Park Avenue in Quakertown.
Ed Nawrocki, president, St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital shares, “St. Luke's is proud to offer the community a free standing center dedicated to heart and vascular patients. The center is conveniently located just off Route 309 and will offer patients direct access to leading specialists.”
The center will be the new home for cardiologists, vascular surgeons and electrophysiologists on staff at St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. Patients can benefit from easy access to leading heart and vascular specialists and diagnostic testing that provide unique health care solutions.
“Often heart and vascular problems can be a puzzle. By bring these specialists together under one roof we can work as a team to provide patients with the best options for care,” says Raymond Durkin, MD, Chief of Cardiology, St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network.
The renovations to the existing space, next to Tri-Valley Primary Care – Western Bucks, have created a tranquil and relaxing environment for patients. Warm colors combined with friendly staff and convenient parking make coming to the center a pleasant experience for patients experiencing pain or discomfort.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (cdc.gov), heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and is a major cause of disability. The most common heart disease in the United States is coronary heart disease, which often appears as a heart attack.
The new St. Luke's Heart & Vascular Center is also part of St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital's accredited Chest Pain Center. The accreditation was granted to St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital by the prestigious Society of Chest Pain Centers. The three-year accreditation follows the Society's rigorous review of clinical protocols and patient care provided by clinicians for chest pain patients.
The St. Luke's Heart & Vascular Center in Quakertown is the third heart and vascular center St. Luke's has opened in the region. The other centers are located in Allentown and Bethlehem.
