Obstetrical Nurse Internship
About our program
Caring for growing families is an amazing opportunity available at several campuses in St. Luke’s University Health network. St. Luke’s offers a full-time, nursing internship program to RNs new to the obstetrics setting, which includes experienced RNs as well as new graduate RN. The Obstetric Nursing Internship program is a 15-week blended educational opportunity that includes in-person educational classes and clinical orientation on the obstetric unit. The classroom setting includes lecture content, guest speakers, and hands-on simulation experiences and scenarios. There are selected mentors, preceptors, and coordinators to help you through this journey. Our program is designed to provide an evidenced-based foundation for new OB nurses, helping them feel confident and competent in obstetrical care.

Internship facts
The length of the internship program is competency-based and is tailored to each individual adult learner. The education and leadership team works with each intern to determine a personalized plan.
The Internship is a process that prepares the novice OB nurse in areas of Postpartum, Labor, Operating Room, PACU and Neonatal Resuscitation. We use a comprehensive program outline which includes:
- 15 Weeks of Classroom training
- Hands on learning/simulation
- An individualized clinical orientation with specialty selected preceptors
