St. Luke's 18th annual Night of Heroes

November 03, 2025

Two patient heroes were honored at the 18th annual St. Luke’s Night of Heroes celebration on Saturday, Nov. 1, along with nearly 100 caregiver heroes who helped make their recoveries possible.
  1. The last thing Thomas Iaderosa remembers from the early morning of April 14, 2024, is riding his motorcycle to work. Nearly two hours after leaving home, he was spotted by a Suburban Ambulance crew lying in the grass beside a lifeless deer and his wrecked motorcycle. He was rushed to the trauma center at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus, where he was immediately taken into surgery to address life-threatening internal bleeding. Over the following weeks, Mr. Iaderosa underwent more than half a dozen surgical procedures and endured months of intensive rehabilitation before he could return home to his family. Today, the former Marine is preparing to go back to work. Grateful for his recovery, he cherishes every moment spent with his eight sons.
  2. On July 9, 2024, Luis Andujar was seriously injured when his bicycle collided with a car and he hit his face and head on the vehicle’s bumper. He suffered severe facial trauma including broken facial bones, a split tongue and separation of most of his face off of his skull. Miraculously, and not knowing he had a paralysis threatening spine injury, he took himself to St. Luke’s Allentown Campus, where the Emergency Department performed heroic measures to stabilize him, establish a safe airway and transfer him to St. Luke’s University Level I Trauma Center. After major reconstructive facial surgery and complicated spinal surgery, Luis was able to be discharged home for outpatient follow up and therapy. Today, Luis is spending time with his family and friends, boxing in the gym and working on a career in music.
St. Luke’s has honored both patients and caregivers at Night of Heroes for more than 18 years. The event, attended by nearly 800 people, celebrates the caregivers who every day dedicate themselves to saving lives, and the patients who beat the odds to survive. Each year two patients’ families tell their stories through a video presentation, and members of the trauma team who touched these patients’ lives are recognized and honored for their skill and dedication.
