St. Lukeʼs University Health Network is now offering an Older Adult Meal at Geisinger St. Lukeʼs Hospital in Orwigsburg!

The Older Adult Meal at Geisinger St. Lukeʼs Hospital offers adults 65 and over an affordable and healthy daily dinner meal during the week. Meals are prepared fresh daily and provide diners with healthy food choices at a special price of $3.99 per meal. Each dinner meal includes an entree, side, vegetable, dessert and 12 oz. drink.

Older Adult Meal participants are invited to eat and encouraged to gather with family, friends or neighbors, link into Wi-Fi and enjoy meeting new people.

Ruth Bartush, Director of Nutrition Services at Geisinger St. Luke’s, said the meal program is part of St. Luke’s commitment to the Schuylkill community.

She noted the hospital cafeteria already serves healthy meals at reasonable prices to staff, visitors, outpatients and the public. “This program extends this philosophy to the older adult population,” she said. “It’s an opportunity for them to get out of the house, meet other people and still keep their meals affordable.”

She said the program is also a way for older adults to see the hospital, which opened in November as a joint venture of St. Luke’s University Health Network and Geisinger Health System.

“We have a beautiful facility,” she said. “It’s an opportunity for them to see and learn about the hospital and its services and enjoy the atmosphere without being there as patients,” Bartush said.

The Older Adult Meal is offered every day Monday – Friday, from 4:30-6 pm. If someone is planning on purchasing the older adult meal, please indicate this to the dietary staff so they can be charged accordingly.
