Evan Marlin and Martin Oselkin have joined St. Luke’s University Health Network’s exceptional team of neurosurgical doctors. Both are eager to assist the neurosurgical staff as they deliver optimal, personalized care to area patients, by using the latest technologies and procedures, including those offered nowhere else in the Lehigh Valley.
Neurosurgeon Evan Marlin, MD, comes to St. Luke’s from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, where he completed his neurosurgical residency and fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery.
“In addition to the practice of general neurosurgery, I look forward to caring for patients with diseases of the blood vessels in the brain and spine,” says Marlin. “This unique set of diseases, not limited to stroke, can often be frightening to patients and their families. I am privileged to help guide them through the disease process and treatment options to help deliver exceptional care.”
Neuro-interventionalist Martin Oselkin, MD, recently served as fellow and clinical instructor in interventional neuroradiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
“Ever since my second year of medical school, it's been my goal to become an interventional neuroradiologist so joining the team at St. Luke’s is a dream come true,” says Oselkin. “My main objective for my practice is in line with St. Luke’s core values – to always deliver high quality, compassionate care and to create a practice where my patients feel confident they are receiving the best treatment in the region.”
Both Marlin and Oselkin will be working together in endovascular neurosurgery, a subspecialty within neurosurgery which uses catheters and radiology to diagnose and treat various conditions and diseases of the central nervous system. Both specialists are experienced in treating disorders such as stroke, aneurysm and other conditions and will join the St. Luke’s team in performing advanced surgical procedures to help patients with brain, spine and nerve conditions, including tumors, aneurysms, fractures and breaks.
Oselkin will focus on acute stroke thrombectomy, “coiling” of aneurysms and embolization of vascular malformations. Additionally, he will perform percutaneous spine procedures such as vertebral augmentation for fractures, ablations of spinal tumors, ESI (Epidural Steroid Injections) and synovial cyst fenestration. In addition to neurosurgery, Marlin will also perform open and endovascular neurosurgical procedures for the treatment of neurovascular disease.
They join Steven Falowski, MD, Hugh Moulding, MD, Hugh O’Donnell, MD, Daniel O’Rourke, MD, Doron Rabin, MD and Dang Zhang, MD on the SLUHN neurosurgical team, providing specialized neurosurgical care and consultation to the people and physicians of the Lehigh Valley. St. Luke's neurosurgical physicians have offices located in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, East Stroudsburg, Quakertown and opening soon in Warren, New Jersey.
