St. Luke’s Invites Community to Open House at New Monroe Campus

Bartonsville, PA (9/14/2016) —Monroe County residents will finally get to see for themselves what Better Health Care looks like as St. Luke’s invites the community to an open house at the new
St. Luke’s Monroe Campus.

The open house will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 17 and 18 and will be filled with health screenings and activities for the entire family.

St. Luke’s Monroe Campus officially opens next month and will be the first new hospital in Monroe County in 100 years. It is conveniently located just off Route 611, with close proximity to Route 33 and I-80.

Guests attending the open house will get a first look at the hospital on the inside to see its state-of-the-art operating rooms, large and efficient emergency department, radiology facilities featuring advanced technologies from GE Healthcare, and private, beautifully appointed private patient rooms.

They will also be able to meet staff and health experts, and take advantage of free tests, including DXA heel scans, a baseline test for osteoporosis, cholesterol testing, blood pressure checks, balance screenings, grip strength testing, body composition analysis, physical therapy consultations, and memory and fall screenings.

Visitors will be able to tour emergency transport vehicles, including PennSTAR flight and meet St. Luke’s aeromedical team.

They will also be able to take an “interactive spin” and experience the dangers of texting and driving virtually. Representatives from AT&T will help community members take the “It Can Wait” Pledge, a commitment to not text while driving. Representatives will also be on hand to show the latest line of fitness trackers and Samsung phones.

St. Luke’s Rodale Institute Organic Farm will offer samples of delicious foods made with the late summer harvest from the St. Luke’s Rodale Farm, which is located at the St. Luke’s Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township. The fresh, healthy produce from the farm is used throughout the St. Luke’s network for visitors, employees and patients to enjoy. Members of the Kinsley’s ShopRite team will also offer guests samples of fresh produce and salads.

St. Luke’s pediatricians and staff from Monroe County and Wind Gap will greet families and check children’s height and weight. There will also be an arts and crafts station for the kids.

Yoga instructor Val Klass will demonstrate chair yoga and explain how yoga can help ease stress, improve mental focus and help with relaxation.

Pocono Snake and Animal Farm will bring an array of resident reptiles, and representatives from Pocono TreeVentures will demonstrate the company’s SAFE LINK Smart Safety System.

Live entertainment will be provided by Stroudsburg songwriter and vocalist Regina Sayles on Saturday and by former "The Voice" contestant Christian Porter on Sunday. Both artists will be available for photos and autographs during the event.

Guests can also enjoy refreshments and giveaways while quantities last. Guests who have pre-registered are also eligible to win prize packs from Camelback Resort and Pocono TreeVentures as well as a fitness tracker.
