Sumana Narayanan, MD

I provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with breast cancer and high-risk breast conditions. I specialize in breast-conserving surgery, nipple and skin sparing mastectomies, oncoplastic techniques, lymph node surgery, and aesthetic scar placement, with a focus on achieving excellent cancer outcomes while preserving quality of life.

I completed my Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. I completed General Surgery residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where I served as the Administrative Chief Resident and earned my medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. I am double board certified in Complex General Surgical Oncology and General Surgery and am a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.

 I have authored many peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and national presentations and remain actively involved in research and scholarly activity. Nationally I serve on professional committees, including with the American Society of Breast Surgeons and as a consultant to the American Board of Surgery for the Complex General Surgical Oncology Qualifying Examination.

I am deeply committed to the compassionate care of my patients and advancing the field of breast surgical oncology through clinical leadership, education, and research. I also have a significant interest in Global health for under-privileged populations.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading and traveling.
