Critical Care Medicine | Pulmonary DiseaseI am a dedicated and compassionate pulmonary and critical care physician, committed to providing exceptional care to patients with complex respiratory diseases and critical illnesses.
Before becoming a physician, I worked as an emergency medical technician (EMT) for the New York City Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for over 12 years. After graduating from the American University of Antigua with a medical degree, I completed a residency in internal medicine at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. I was named Resident of the Year. Subsequently, I received fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where I was selected Chief Fellow and Geisinger Fellow Teacher of the Year.
This intense training allowed me to refine my expertise in diagnosing and treating a broad range of respiratory conditions, including chronic lung diseases, interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary infections and lung cancer.
Additionally, I perform procedures and critical care management. I am certified in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), a type of artificial life support that can help patients whose lungs and heart aren’t functioning correctly, allowing the body to rest.
I am actively involved in research and scholarly pursuits, having written a book chapter on lung transplantation and articles for medical journals. I have attended and presented at many national medical conferences and have participated in quality improvement projects.
I am from New York City and now reside in Coopersburg. In my free time, I enjoy watching the New York Mets baseball team, detailing my car and coming up with excuses for avoiding the gym.

“Dr. Khan was extremely knowledgeable and interacted with me and his resident-in-training Emily very professionally with keen interest in questions and comments. The entire visit was very enlightening and productive (and enjoyable!)”

“I've had great experiences with all my St. Luke's doctors and staff to date. Pulmonology was as greatly professional and interactive with me as has been rheumatology, opthamology, and internal medicine. My contact time with the various providers has been extraordinary and of sufficient length to discuss most everything of relevance to my case (i.e., there was no time pressure to speak of!)”
