Ruchi D. Patel, DO

I chose a career in Rheumatology because of my deep fascination with the immune system and its complex role in chronic diseases. During my medical training, I was drawn to the challenge of diagnosing and managing autoimmune conditions, which often requires a thoughtful and holistic approach to patient care. The opportunity to build long-term relationships with my patients while helping them manage chronic illnesses resonated with my desire to make a meaningful impact on their lives. In my practice, I recognize that each patient's journey is unique, and my goal is to empower my patients with the knowledge and tools they need to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

I grew up in New Jersey where I also went to medical school. I then went on to complete my residency in internal medicine and fellowship in rheumatology at Geisinger Medical Center in central Pennsylvania before moving to the Lehigh Valley area to be closer to family.

I joined the team at St. Luke’s University Health Network because of its commitment to building a patient-centered health system and its reputation as a collegial environment. I see patients with a wide range of rheumatologic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoporosis and many more. I am trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which I use to help make diagnoses and perform procedures, such as joint injections and aspirations.

In my free time, I love to travel around the world and am making a growing list of countries I have visited. Locally, my husband and I like to hike, play board games or spend time with family and friends.
