I was born and raised in Souderton, PA and graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School. I attended Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, and went on to attend Temple University School of Medicine. I completed my residency in Pediatrics at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

I serve as the Pennsylvania state chapter coordinator for PROS, a national office-based research group through the American Academy of Pediatrics. I am married and have two adult daughters. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors and reading, and for the past fifteen years I have volunteered one week each year as a physician in Honduras with a local organization called Healthy Niños Honduras.
