My goal as a cardiologist is not only to treat whatever condition or symptoms with which my patients present, but to provide a comprehensive assessment of their cardiovascular health and risk factors to prevent future illness. I look forward to helping my patients reduce their risk of future conditions such as heart attack, stroke or heart failure through a holistic approach that involves dietary and lifestyle modifications as well as medications, if necessary.
I am also trained in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. This allows me to personally perform and interpret a large array of stress testing and structural testing we offer patients to assess for coronary artery disease, heart valve disease and other cardiovascular conditions. As a non-invasive cardiologist, I work with our invasive cardiologists, heart surgeons and other sub-specialists to diagnose and manage all types of heart disease.
I received my medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. I completed training in internal medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and training in cardiology at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA.
My wife and I have two toddlers, a son and a daughter. In my free time, I enjoy playing with my kids, tinkering with cars and computers, archery and skiing. I also look forward to fishing the creeks around the Lehigh Valley and would welcome fishing advice from any patient who can offer it!

“My experience was excellent with Dr Jovan Plamenac, who was very professional and very knowledgeable. I had never been to a cardiologist before and was directed there immediately due to a concerning EKG. Dr Jovan went the extra mile to make sure I could get a stress test quickly to see if I could leave within the week for my trip to Europe. Deeply appreciated the care and concern given to me immediately. Highly recommend. Thank you, St. Lukes”

“Dr P was excellent in attending to all of my cardio concerns and questions, gave thorough explanations and answers. This was my first visit with StLukes cardio since my previous (Dr O, Bucks-Mont Cardio) moved away. I greatly appreciated that Dr P so thoroughly reviewed all the history in My Chart and specifically addressed issues from previous test results that Dr O had submitted. The only negative was with scheduling: I had called in early autumn (Sept I believe) and was given an appt for end of December with a StLukes Dr whose name I don't remember but on the day of the appt the office called to cancel because the Dr was sick. I was directed to the website to reschedule and the next available for any Dr was Dr P on March 21. That's a really long time. Fortunately none of my ongoing cardio issues are of a critical nature.”

“Dr. Plamenac is my cardiologist. Your question asked if he was the doc I see for my general health questions etc. The answer is no! I see him for my heart - for which I don't think there is a better doctor anywhere! Dr. P. SAVED my life! Don't screw with him! My other Doctor is equally as wonderful as a G.P.! You mess with either of these 2 doctors or their staffs & you'll have a revolution on your hands!”
