Johannah K. Valentine, MD

I am a Board-Certified Dermatologist committed to providing exceptional care for the health of your skin. Known for my caring bedside manner, I specialize in General, Pediatric and Surgical Dermatology. I also have expertise in Cosmetic Dermatology, scar treatment and advanced dermoscopy.

I am a native of Brooklyn, NY, and entered the service of our nation when I matriculated at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in Bethesda, Maryland. After receiving my medical doctorate from USUHS, I completed my internship in Internal Medicine at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD).

Before beginning residency training, I spent four years as a United States Naval Flight Surgeon. I first served with HMH-466 of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During that time, I flew over 90 combat hours in the back of a CH-53E helicopter, assisting the crew. I was then hand-selected to be the flight surgeon for the United States Navy Blue Angels, where I served for over two years, traveling around the country and supporting the team. I returned to NMCSD for residency in Dermatology.

After completing residency, I joined the Dermatology faculty at NMCSD, where I also served as a USUHS Associate Professor of Dermatology. I later deployed to East Asia and Polynesia aboard USNS Mercy in support of Pacific Partnership ‘15. During this deployment, I lectured at local conferences and addressed various dermatology concerns of the local population, with a focus on shipboard laser scar revisions. I completed active duty in San Diego and served in the Navy Reserves for two years while living in Italy with my husband, who was still on active duty. Now that we have both completed military service, we are proud to call the Lehigh Valley our home.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and four children. Much of my time is happily spent cheering them on and shuttling them to their many activities. I also love staying active outdoors, traveling, and exploring new places whenever I can. I look forward to customizing an effective skin treatment plan to help you feel your best.
