Jeffrey C. Liu, MD

I have decades of experience treating cancers of the head and neck, including cancers of the throat, mouth, skin, salivary glands and thyroid.

I was born in New York and spent my early childhood in the New England area before moving overseas to Asia for ten years. I returned to the United States for college at Brown University, where I completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with honors. I then attended Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, earning my medical degree with honors in research. For postgraduate training, I completed an internship in General Surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital–Columbia University Campus, followed by a residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the New York Presbyterian Hospital–Columbia and Cornell University campuses. After residency, I completed fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, which included an additional year and a half of specialized laboratory research training sponsored by the National Institutes of Health.

Following my training, I moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to join the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University as faculty in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. In this role, I cared for patients with head and neck cancer at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Hospital, treating individuals from Philadelphia, Eastern Pennsylvania and the surrounding states of New Jersey and Delaware.

I have a national reputation and have held numerous leadership roles, including Chair of the Young Physicians Section of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Chair of the Basic Science and Translational Committee of the American Head and Neck Society. I have an extensive research background with more than 60 published manuscripts and over 50 national abstract presentations.

I currently serve as co‑director of the Head and Neck Cancer Program at St. Luke’s University Health Network.
