Orthopedic Surgery

My role as an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement is to help patients struggling with joint pain and arthritis-related symptoms such as discomfort, stiffness, decreased range of motion and joint swelling. Although hip and knee arthritis are common conditions, no two patients are the same. It is my mission to understand each patient as an individual and, together, help formulate a treatment plan to improve their quality of life. While nonsurgical treatments are often effective and should always be pursued initially, sometimes patients require a more definitive treatment in the form of a joint replacement.

I joined St. Luke’s after completing a fellowship in adult reconstruction at the NorthShore Orthopedic and Spine Institute in Skokie, IL. My time in fellowship allowed me the opportunity to learn the most up-to-date concepts in joint reconstruction and apply that knowledge to perform advanced procedures and techniques. Hip and knee replacement surgeries have existed in their modern forms for decades, but these operations have continued to improve significantly, even in the past few years. My goal is to bring these improvements to my patients and provide exceptional care before, during and after surgery.

I am a firm believer in the use of modern technologies developed for joint replacement surgery, including robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty (replacement) and computer-assisted navigation in hip arthroplasty. With this method, the surgeon makes an incision at the front of the body to access an area, such as the hip joint or spine, to avoid cutting through major muscle groups. I support same-day discharge outpatient surgery when appropriate. As a joint replacement surgeon, I also specialize in the evaluation and treatment of prior hip and knee replacements, including revision surgery when appropriate.

I was born and raised in Texas, where I also completed my undergraduate, graduate and medical school educations. I completed my orthopedic surgery residency at University Hospital in Newark, NJ, with Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. I am a current member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Outside of work, I love being in the great outdoors and spending time with my friends and family.
