Anita Sargent, MD

As a palliative care physician, I help patients with chronic, life-limiting illnesses navigate treatment options, discuss goals of care and focus on the best possible quality of life. Before transitioning to Palliative Care, I practiced as an OBGYN, where I had the privilege of supporting women through important health decisions and life changes. Those experiences, along with witnessing the challenges that serious illness can bring, strengthened my desire to help people prepare for whatever lies ahead. I work closely with patients, their families and their care teams to create a plan that addresses not only the illness and its symptoms, but the whole person. I believe that getting to know each patient, understanding what matters most to them and discussing factors such as lifestyle and stress can support well-being and coping. My goal is to ensure that no one feels alone on their journey and that each person feels seen, heard and supported.
