Expertise

Epilepsy

I am a neurologist with St Luke's University Health Network, board-certified in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy. My practice is predominantly dedicated to patients with seizures and epilepsy. I perform various procedures such as video-EEG monitoring, ambulatory EEG monitoring and ICU EEG monitoring.

I completed my medical education at State University of New York at Upstate in Syracuse, New York and a neurology residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I then completed clinical neurophysiology and epilepsy fellowships at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Rochester University Medical center, respectively. Fellowship training at two level-four epilepsy centers allowed me to gain the experience needed to manage patients with epilepsy, including managing complex medication combinations and knowing when epilepsy surgery may be the best option for seizure control. I am also comfortable utilizing neurostimulation devices (vagal nerve stimulator, responsive neurostimulation and deep brain stimulation) as a means to reduce seizure severity and frequency.

In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I am also the assistant program director for the neurology residency at St. Luke’s. Throughout my training I have been recognized for my passion for medication education. While at St. Luke’s, I have had the privilege to work with medical students and residents, helping them grow as skilled physicians. Additionally, my research focuses on medical education, as well as quality improvement and the diagnosis of seizure, syncope, etc. These interests have led to several peer reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, book chapters, podcast guest appearances and the development of an online neurology education website called Nowyouknow Neuro (www.nowyouknowneuro.com).

Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities including hiking, camping and fishing throughout the Lehigh Valley. I also spend free time with my two dogs, Della and Looper.
