Star Community Health Celebrates Community Health Day and National Health Center Week
July 29, 2022

Star Community Health, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that provides health care services to medically underserved patients in the Lehigh Valley, will host a series of events in recognition of National Health Center Week, including the Star Community Health Day on Aug. 13 in Bethlehem.

The fun-filled event will be held from 10 am to 2 pm at Star Community Health Family Medicine – Bethlehem, 2830 Easton Ave. The carnival-like event will include activities for children, such as a popcorn machine, face painting, arts and crafts, free school supplies and a visit from the tooth fairy. The St. Luke’s Dental van will provide free dental screenings for guests of all ages. Physicians of St. Luke’s Family Medicine Residency – Bethlehem will offer free blood pressure screening along with healthy lifestyle advice. Visitors may also talk with Star Community Health physicians and schedule appointments during the event.

“For more than 50 years, underserved communities have relied on community health centers to provide high quality health care to vulnerable populations across the nation,” said Star Community Health Executive Director Mark Roberts. “Our patients rely on the primary and preventive care we are honored to provide, regardless of their financial status. During this year’s Health Center Week, we reflect on the continued dedication of our teams during the pandemic, and our commitment to anticipate and exceed the expectations of our patients and communities.”

Also, during the Community Health Day, participants will have the opportunity to purchase fruits and vegetables at a Farmers Market provided by the Kellyn Foundation Food Access Program.

Other events throughout the week are:

  • Women’s Health Day, Aug. 8. Patients will receive a free guide to women’s health.
  • Dental Health Day, Tuesday, Aug. 9. Patients will meet the tooth fairy and receive free toothbrushes at all practice locations.
  • Children’s Health Day, Wednesday, Aug. 10. Star Community Health providers will dress up as superheroes to showcase children’s wellness at each practice.
  • Patient Wellness Day, Thursday, Aug. 11. Family Medicine Wellness programs will be featured at each practice.

National Health Center Week is an annual celebration to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades.
