Official Provider for Journeyman Wrestling Tournaments
November 03, 2022

Some of the top collegiate wrestling teams in the nation will be coming to Bethlehem in November, and St. Luke’s University Health Network has been selected as the official Sports Medicine Provider for the weekend by Journeyman Wrestling, the organizer of the tournament.

A total of 11 NCAA Division I wrestling teams will take to the mats at Liberty High School on Saturday, Nov. 12 for WrangleMania. On Sunday, Nov. 13, more teams will be added to the field as 15 teams compete in the Collegiate Classic at Freedom High School.

“We are extremely excited to partner with St. Luke’s University Health Network to bring collegiate wrestling to Bethlehem,” said Frank Popolizio of Journeyman Wrestling. “We have worked tirelessly to assemble one of the premier collegiate events in the country and are proud to showcase it right in the Lehigh Valley, the hotbed of wrestling. There will be a lot of eyes on this event, making the stakes high and the atmosphere electric.”

The Lehigh Valley has produced some of the best wrestlers in the nation, both in the scholastic and college ranks.

The Journeyman WrangleMania and Collegiate Classic bring a Who’s Who of top-tier collegiate wrestling programs to Bethlehem.

Lehigh University will take part in both days of action, along with Arizona State University, Army West Point, the University of Buffalo, Lock Haven University, Long Island University, the University of Nebraska, North Carolina State University, the University of Oklahoma, and Sacred Heart University.

WrangleMania on Saturday at Liberty High School will also include Rutgers University.

The Journeyman Collegiate Classic on Sunday at Freedom High School will also include Bloomsburg University, Harvard University, Hofstra University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Virginia Military Institute.

“St. Luke’s is honored to have been selected to be a part of this event,” said John Hauth, EdD, LAT, ATC and the Senior Director for Sports Medicine Relationships at SLUHN.

“Because of the elite level of the athletes and the teams, Journeyman wanted to partner with the best Sports Medicine program for their tournaments. They knew we could provide the type of support they were looking for at this premier event, and we are ready to exceed their expectations.

“To have all these great, storied wrestling programs here over two days, and to be a part of that, is very exciting,” Dr. Hauth said.

All action in both events will be livestreamed on Rofkin.
