St. Luke's Surgeons Sponsor 'The Girls' Night Out Benefitting Cancer Patients
October 12, 2018

Tickets are now available for the Second Annual “The Girls” Night Out on Oct. 25. Sponsored by St. Luke’s Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, the event will raise funds for cancer survivors, as well as raise awareness of the role breast reconstruction plays in the healing process for many women.

The event, which will be held at the Event Center at Blue in Bethlehem from 5:30-8:30 pm, will feature live entertainment by the band “Rotten Apples” and a complimentary wine tasting provided by Boos Rock Winery. During the event, participants will select the best decorated bra from among entries submitted by cancer survivors. Guests may also compete for the most creative pink outfit.  The event was held in recognition of Breast Recognition Awareness Day, observed nationally on Oct. 6.

“St. Luke’s Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery offers several breast reconstructive surgery options, ranging from saline and silicone implants to leading-edge microsurgery options, where physicians use tissue from the patient’s own body to reconstruct the breast,” says plastic and reconstructive surgeon Juan Carlos Martinez, MD. “Knowing beforehand about the options available is comforting to women faced with a breast cancer diagnosis. Through this event, we hope to raise awareness and peace of mind.”

About BRA Day

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and The Plastic Surgery Foundation (The PSF) lead the Breast Reconstruction Awareness USA Campaign to build awareness around breast reconstruction options after mastectomy and lumpectomy. Their goal of the event is to share the message that:

  • All women who are candidates for breast reconstruction should be made aware of the options available to them.
  • All women who are candidates for breast reconstruction should be offered treatment in a safe and timely manner.
  • Federal law mandates coverage of breast reconstruction for all breast cancer patients, even if such reconstruction is delayed until after other treatments.
