Lions Clubs Donates ‘Brady Buggies’ to St. Luke’s Pediatrics for Child Transport
December 17, 2018

The Pediatrics Unit at St. Luke’s Hospital Bethlehem Campus recently received two Brady Buggy® animal-shaped wagons that allow children undergoing treatment to be mobile thanks to the generosity of the Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Clubs.

“The buggies will bring smiles to the faces of many children and their families on our pediatric unit every day,” says Jessika Haynos, St. Luke’s Pediatric Service Line Manager. “The buggies can be used to transport children from the pediatric unit to radiology or any other area of the hospital they need to go for tests and procedures. Children also can sit in the buggies and play while undergoing IV therapy. The buggies are meant to help make their hospital stay less scary.”

The one-passenger buggies, which come in a variety of whimsical animal shapes, will be kept in the playroom on the pediatric unit when not in use. The wagons include a trailer to tow IV poles, which allows children to be mobile, even during treatments. Children can sit in the Brady Buggy® and bring their favorite stuffed animal or a snack along for the ride. The buggies the Lions Clubs donated to St. Luke’s pediatrics are lion-shaped.

The donations were provided by local Lions Clubs from District 14 U.

About the Hugs for Brady Foundation

Sherrie and Michael Wells founded the Hugs for Brady Foundation in 2009 after their 13-month-old son, Brady, was diagnosed with Non- Differentiated Acute Leukemia. Brady lost his battle at 23 months of age, but Hugs for Brady carried on, and to date, the non-profit has raised more than $2 million to help eradicate pediatric cancer so that families across the globe never have to hear that their child has been diagnosed with cancer. Hugs for Brady is funding cutting-edge research, providing financial assistance to families for treatment, donating toys and games to oncology units, and ensuring that every pediatric hospital in the country receives a Brady Buggy® to provide fun for child patients during their treatment.
