St. Luke’s University Health Network today supports Health Records on iPhone, which brings together hospitals, clinics and the existing Apple Health app to make it easy for patients to see their available medical data from multiple providers whenever they choose.
This is St. Luke’s latest initiative to make it easier for patients to access their health records. Now patients can view their St. Luke’s MyChart health record online either through the St. Luke’s mobile app or in the Apple Health app, alongside their medical records from other participating institutions.
Previously, patients’ medical records were held in multiple locations, requiring them to log into each care provider’s website and piece together the information manually. Apple worked with the healthcare community to take a consumer-friendly perspective and created a new approach based on FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), a standard for transferring electronic medical records.
Now, patients will have medical information from participating institutions organized into one view, covering allergies, conditions, immunizations, lab results, medications, procedures and vitals, and will receive notifications when their data is updated. Patients authenticate using their MyChart patient portal credentials to directly download their available Health Records onto their iPhone. Data is encrypted and protected with the user’s iPhone passcode, Touch ID or Face ID.

To get started, open the Health app (with the red heart icon) on your iPhone, select 'Health Data,’ select Health Records and authenticate using your St. Luke’s MyChart account credentials.
