St. Luke’s University Health Network has been recognized for achieving the highest level of quality and patient safety in Radiation Oncology, earning a three-year accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR). To achieve ACR accreditation, a facility’s personnel qualifications, equipment requirements, quality assurance and quality control procedures go through a rigorous review process and meet specific qualifications.

“At St. Luke’s, our ultimate goal is to provide our patients with the safest and most advanced radiation treatment for their type of cancer,” says Nimisha Deb, MD, section chief of Radiation Oncology, St. Luke’s University Health Network. “This recognition by the ACR affirms our commitment to our patients and their families.”

The radiation oncology technologies at St. Luke’s Cancer Centers are leading edge, allowing tighter tumor margins and minimizing injury to surrounding tissues. At St. Luke’s, radiation oncologists work closely with a leading team of surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, neurosurgeons, regional physicians, oncology nurses and cancer support staff to ensure patients receive the most up-to-date treatment to allow for the best chance for survival in a time-sensitive manner.

Radiation Oncology services are available at St. Luke’s Cancer Centers in Allentown, at St. Luke’s University Hospital-Bethlehem and at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus in Easton.

St. Luke’s offers cancer services throughout its network. More than 2,800 new oncology patients received their care at St. Luke’s last year. St. Luke’s has three comprehensive outpatient cancer centers in Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton (Anderson Campus), and also provides cancer services in Quakertown, Coaldale, East Stroudsburg and Warren County, NJ.

In December 2013, St. Luke’s became one of only two health care networks in Pennsylvania to earn national accreditation with commendation as an Integrated Cancer Network from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. St. Luke’s Cancer Center was also recognized with the Morning Call Readers’ Choice award two years in a row.
