Going smoke-free is possible with the St. Luke’s Smoking Cessation Program!
- Program mission: Our program uses a comprehensive approach to empower tobacco users with the necessary tools and skills to take control of their health—without any shame, guilt, or pressure. We believe that tobacco users deserve kindness and respect while they go tobacco-free, and our program will work with you to create a plan with your needs in mind.
- Our goals include:
- Creating individualized treatment plans to help tobacco users during every step of their tobacco-free journey so they can successfully become tobacco-free.
- Helping tobacco users facing surgery go tobacco-free before surgery and stay tobacco-free after.
- Partnering with community groups to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use in the community.
- Disseminating culturally competent health education related to tobacco use and going tobacco-free to the community.
- Reducing the chronic disease burden and improving overall health in the St. Luke’s University Health Network service area.

Why Our Program?
Our program is different –we don’t use shame, guilt, or pressure you to quit.
- The St. Luke’s Smoking Cessation Program understands that going tobacco free is a difficult process that takes time. We will meet you where you are on this process and work with you every step of the way to create an individualized treatment plan so you can live tobacco-free.
Facing surgery? We can help you become “Smoke-free for Surgery”
- Within the St. Luke's Smoking Cessation Program, we offer a specialized program, designed to help people go smoke-free before surgery and then stay smoke-free afterwards. Our team in the Surgical Optimization Clinic will work with you to identify medications that will work for you and help with medication management before surgery. Then, the Smoking Cessation Program Coordinator will follow-up with you over the phone for counseling before your surgery date. After your surgery date, these supports can continue so you can stay smoke-free and ensure an easier, smoother recovery.
