St. Luke's Gastroenterology - Phillipsburg
I treat all aspects of gastrointestinal and liver disease and strive to provide care with empathy and compassion.
I am board certified in gastroenterology and hepatology. I obtained my medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ, pursuing a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in the process. I completed both my internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. I subsequently joined the faculty at UVM as an assistant professor in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology where I served as director of the gastrointestinal motility lab. After enduring a dozen Vermont winters, I returned to western NJ/eastern PA where I have been in practice for the past 10 years, and am delighted to be a part of St. Luke’s University Health Network.
In addition to colonoscopy and EGD (upper endoscopy), I am trained in ERCP, biliary LASER lithotripsy, video capsule endoscopy, enteral stenting, esophageal manometry, intraluminal impedance and pH testing, endoscopic mucosal resection, radiofrequency ablation of Barrett’s esophagus, STRETTA and TIF anti-reflux treatments, as well as HET and CRH O’Regan hemorrhoidal therapies.
When not at work, I enjoy hiking, fishing and gardening with my wife and two children, as well as playing with my two rescue dogs and tending to my small flock of Shetland sheep.

“My experience with Dr Willis and his team was excellent. Everyone was extremely supportive. The young nurse who put in my line for anesthesia was exceptional, just a tiny pinch and no redness or bruising. Heather in the endoscopy/colonoscopy room was very sweet and fixed my pillow without me asking. The Doctor of Anesthesiology answered all my questions as did Evan the nurse anesthetist. I was worried the anesthesia would make me sick.”

“While I have been to Dr. Willis' office, and received excellent care there, the day of my colonoscopy performed by Dr. Willis was actually the first time I met him. He was very professional explaining what would be happening and made sure to answer my questions. After the procedure he went over my results and offered helpful suggestions. I am pleased and impressed by Dr Willis and all of the medical professionals that helped me. Thank you St. Luke's.”
