Breast Reconstruction
St. Luke’s Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery offers a variety of breast reconstruction options, including nipple and areola recreation. Our physicians will discuss your options so you can select the one that best fits your lifestyle and desired outcome.
Options include:
- Breast implants filled with saline or silicone
- Breasts rebuilt using skin, fat and sometimes muscle from your own body. These are called flap procedures, which includes DIEP (deep inferior epigastric artery perforator)
- A combination of these methods
Breast reconstruction is covered by insurance.
DIEP (Deep Inferior Epigastric Artery Perforator) Breast Reconstruction
An advanced microsurgical technique, DIEP breast reconstruction uses tissue from your abdomen to rebuild the breast lost. Among its advantages, DIEP doesn’t require maintenance or repeat surgery, which often occurs with breast implants.
