Call System
At our institution, we believe that every aspect of our interventional radiology residency program should be carefully designed to help our residents grow and excel. During the first four years of training (PGY2-5), DR/IR residents share diagnostic call responsibilities with DR residents, ensuring that they gain exposure to a wide range of clinical scenarios and develop their diagnostic skills.
In the final year (PGY6)of the DR/IR residency, residents participate in buddy IR calls alongside an attending physician. Our call schedule is meticulously crafted to ensure that call shifts are spaced out, guaranteeing that residents are well-rested and fostering a nurturing learning environment. Residents are not expected to provide full coverage of the call schedule. We firmly believe that the purpose of calls is not driven by service needs, but rather to help our residents become familiar with emergency procedures and gain confidence in high-pressure situations.
We take great pride in the fact that our program is designed to support our residents' growth and development at every turn. By participating in our call system, residents will gain invaluable experience and develop the skills they need to thrive in their future practice.
