Admissions

Early Decision Program

The Early Decision Program (EDP) is open to both Pennsylvania and non-Pennsylvania residents. As with the regular application cycle, you must apply to Katz School of Medicine through AMCAS®, then designate Temple/St. Luke’s as your first choice when completing the online supplemental application.

The AMCAS application and transcript deadline is August 1 of the year before intended matriculation. Supplementary materials must be received no later than August 15. Interviews are scheduled for mid-September and applicants are notified of admissions decisions by October 1st. Applicants accepted under this plan are prohibited from applying to any other medical school.

Early Assurance Program

Special agreements between Katz School of Medicine and Lehigh University, Moravian College, Muhlenberg College and DeSales University allow outstanding undergraduates at these schools to be considered at the end of their junior year under the Early Assurance Program (EAP).

Applying through the EAP can save you the time, money, and stress of applying to multiple schools through the regular application cycle. To be eligible to apply as an EAP candidate, you must, by the end of your junior year, have at least a 3.6 GPA (overall and science). You also must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to service, with extensive community and health care experiences, and show leadership potential. After interviewing in the spring of your Junior year, select candidates are offered a conditional acceptance to the School of Medicine. Students who meet the academic and MCAT requirements will matriculate into Katz School of Medicine after completing their bachelor’s degree. You can learn more about the EAP, either through your health professions advisor or our office. Your health professions advisor has application forms.

Nick Roma

“Growing up in the Lehigh Valley, I have always known the compassion and level of patient care that St. Luke's has to offer. Now, being a graduate of Temple/St. Luke's and actively being trained at St. Luke's, I have seen first-hand the physicians and students go above and beyond for every patient that walks through those doors. It is truly an honor to serve the community in which you grew up and I would choose this program over and over again. Having world-class training right here in the Lehigh Valley and being able to serve this community is a fantastic opportunity for any aspiring physician.”
