Quality Improvement Collaborative
The mission of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Quality Improvement (QI) Collaborative is to engage those in medical education in QI initiatives that focus on promoting healthcare improvement and reducing healthcare disparities. This collaborative aims to optimize the engagement of GME clinicians in learning that enhances their ability to provide high-quality healthcare. The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) sets standards for integrating quality improvement activities into GME. The ACGME believes that involving residents and fellows in QI projects is essential for several reasons: enhancing patient care, interprofessional collaboration, educational experience, sustainability and system improvement, and professional development.
The purpose of the Collaborative's bi-annual newsletters is to provide updates on the initiatives and activities that support the mission of continuous improvement in graduate medical education, and recruitment and retention. These newsletters serve as a platform to share information about educational offerings, courses, workshops, national meetings, and other resources. They also highlight the successes and challenges of actively involving residents in patient safety improvement as part of the Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments initiative.
