    • What do you value most about the St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine Residency? From day 1, you are entrusted with treating the sickest of patients, but you also have a lot of help from senior residents who are willing to teach you and guide you through procedures and treatments. Our attendings also vary in their teaching style and training, which gives me an opportunity to see different practice styles. Lastly, we enjoy spending time outside of the hospital which makes going to work more enjoyable!
    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? So many Food options! Quiet areas to live in, but also close by to larger cities like NYC and Philly for day trips.

    • What do you value most about the St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine Residency? St. Luke’s is a great program because everyone is incredibly supportive and helpful. I think we’re getting amazing training here and I’m confident that I will be able to independently make decisions and take care of my patients as an attending one day.
    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? Bethlehem is a great place to live because there is so much to do. It’s kind of a small city, but there’s so many outdoor activities to do in the area as well. There’s lots of festivals and breweries, but there’s also plenty of hiking and other athletic activities.

    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? I personally left the busy city life in the hopes of moving to some place that I can enjoy both peacefulness of the suburbs and yet get to enjoy a bit of city life if desired. Lehigh Valley seems to be the ideal place where you can enjoy both.

    • What do you value most about the St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine Residency? The quality of the training and the variability in pathology are what I value most about the St. Luke's EM residency. Furthermore, as evidenced by early access to the COVID vaccine, it is nice to know that the administration values us.
    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? The Bethlehem area offers a lot of options for outdoor activities. Furthermore, it is easy to travel in and out of to explore surrounding regions.

    • What do you value most about the St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine Residency? The people here, I really enjoy hanging out with my co-residents both at work and outside of work. Also, all of the attendings are very approachable and all very dedicated to our resident education.
    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? I really enjoy outdoor activities, and there are plenty of hiking, running/biking trails, ski hills and more around the Bethlehem area. There are also a lot of good restaurants and fun festivals throughout the summer.

    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? During the summer months especially, there is a festival of some kind almost every weekend that are always a fun experience. This area also has a lot of great restaurants and breweries.

    • What do you value most about the St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine Residency? I value the camaraderie we have among the residents as well as with our attending faculty. We work very well together while on shift in the ER but we also often spend time together outside of our work responsibilities.

I love how the Bethlehem-Allentown-Easton area (“the Lehigh Valley”) has a little bit of everything: good restaurants (several hidden gems), a nice craft beer/brewery scene, tons of outdoor spaces for hiking and recreational sports (lots of cool disc golf courses), reasonable cost of living, and very little traffic during day-to-day driving.

    • What do you value most about the St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine Residency? The thing I value most about our residency is how close all of the residents and faculty are to each other. Everyone enjoys working together and we all want to see each other succeed. It's a very positive atmosphere and I genuinely feel like my co-residents and attendings are family.
    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? I didn't know much about Bethlehem and the Lehigh Valley Area before I interviewed here. Now I know it is a hidden gem of a location. I have a wife and child and we live 20 minutes south of the hospital. This is an extremely safe, family-friendly area to live. We have tons of restaurants, zoos, parks, concerts (when there isn't a pandemic), and are less than an hour drive from Philly, with a significantly lower cost of living.

    • What do you value most about the St. Luke’s Emergency Medicine Residency? I value the people most. I'm so incredibly proud of my co-residents both inside and outside of work. Being new to the Bethlehem area without any friends/family here, having a new adoptive family has kept me sane. They've also become close friends with my fiancé, making him feel at home here. Our attendings are some of the most amazing clinicians and people I have ever met. I have a new role model every day of the week.
    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? Bethlehem is full of good vibes and good times. There's plenty to do no matter what you're interested in. Main street is what sold me. You can walk down the street and stop into little quirky shops while speakers play music outside. It's beautiful in the summer and even more so in the winter, decked out in holiday gear. The Poconos are beautiful and offer a bunch of wonderful vineyards nearby.

    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? For me, it's an ideal location: tons of locally owned restaurants with variety, breweries, wineries; easily accessible to things like airport, hiking, major cities. While I enjoy big cities, I don't enjoy living in them.

    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? Bethlehem provides the best of both worlds. I can access some of the largest cities within the US by driving an hour. At the same time I live 5 minutes away from work and have access to recreational opportunities minutes out my back door. Bethlehem itself has plenty to offer as well from great dining and microbreweries, to Musikfest and other fun events.

We get a mixture of center city medicine and rural medicine with where we are situated and being the main referral center. There is also great comradery between not only the other EM attendings, residents, staff but also other services within the hospital.
    • What do you love about living in the Bethlehem area? Bethlehem and the greater Lehigh Valley in general gives you a reasonable chance to live in something similar to what you want. If you want the inner city feel, suburban or even rural they are all within a close drive to work. Although not truly being a major city we are within a relatively easy drive to NYC and Philly.
