Gastroenterology Fellowship

St. Luke’s Gastroenterology Fellowship is a three-year ACGME accredited program that accepts two fellows per year. It is a structured, clinical training experience for fellows to become competent in the field of gastroenterology and prepared for ABIM Board Examination. In a welcoming and supportive environment, fellows receive comprehensive educational, clinical and procedural training, and participate in guided research opportunities. Additional scholarly activities include continuing education conferences, quality improvement, and teaching other learners, residents and medical students on rotation. We believe teaching is an integral part of learning and advancing best practices.

Our program focuses on teaching fellows the fundamentals of gastroenterology clinical care and endoscopic procedures while demonstrating compassionate patient care. Fellows learn best practices to improve patient health outcomes and promote awareness within the community. With a large volume and diverse array of gastroenterology patients seen each year, fellows gain experience with a variety of gastroenterology procedural techniques and develop an understanding of the risks and benefits of each procedure. Fellows are trained to provide compassionate patient care that respects cultural differences and seeks to reduce health disparities.

Over the course of training, St. Luke’s gastroenterology fellows have dedicated time in the outpatient clinic, inpatient rounds, endoscopic lab, and liver transplant program at Temple University. Fellows develop competence in gastroenterology procedures including upper endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, and video capsule endoscopy, to become board-certified practitioners in gastroenterology. Our dedicated team consists of gastroenterologists, hepatalogists, interventionists, physician assistants, social workers, dieticians, nurses, research faculty, and fellowship coordinator.
