St. Luke's is proud to celebrate Gregory Dobash, MD as the recipient of the Jasper G. Chen See, MD Healthcare Professional Award. The award was presented at the 28th Annual Greater Pennsylvania Community Awards Breakfast. 

This recognition honors individuals who advance prevention, treatment, recovery, and community awareness of mental health and substance use disorders through their leadership, compassion, and commitment. Dr. Dobash serves as the director of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship and associate director of the Rural Family Medicine Residency program. His selection for this award reflects his unwavering commitment to advancing patient care and graduate medical education. 

The nomination was submitted by William Santoro, MD, who shared the personal significance of the award: 

"I nominated Dr. Gregory Dobash for the Jasper G. Chen See, MD Healthcare Professional Award. This award has special meaning to me, as I had the honor of being its first recipient in 1997. That makes me particularly pleased to see Greg receive this well-deserved recognition nearly 30 years later." 

As director of the Addiction Medicine Fellowship, Dr. Dobash has guided the program’s growth and development. Under his leadership, the fellowship graduated its first two classes of fellows in 2025 and 2026 and welcomed a third cohort in July 2026. Throughout his career, he has remained deeply committed to serving both learners and patients, making a lasting impact on the communities he serves and beyond. 

Dr. Dobash was joined at the celebration by current and former Addiction Medicine Fellowship and Rural Family Medicine residents and fellows, as well as faculty and colleagues. Dr. Dobash’s influence extends far beyond patient care. He inspires colleagues, learners, and community members alike through his unwavering commitment, compassion, and leadership. 

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Dobash took a moment to recognize the dedicated team members who work alongside him, including his medical assistant at the Star Community Health Ringtown Clinic, Desirea Whitecavage, who was honored as a recipient of the Unsung Hero Award. He also paid tribute to the late Dr. Joshua Melot, recognizing his vision and leadership in founding the program and acknowledging the lasting impact his work continues to have on its success today. 

"Treat addiction, save lives," Dr. Dobash shared during his acceptance remarks.
