Pulmonary Critical Care Medicine Fellowship

St. Luke’s Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is a three-year ACGME accredited clinical fellowship and follows ABIM board certification requirements for both pulmonary disease and critical care medicine. Specialty expertise is provided in a welcoming and structured educational environment that produces highly skilled and well rounded physicians in the field of pulmonary & critical care medicine. Fellowship program goals and objectives align with ACGME core competencies milestones and center on:

The goal of St. Luke’s Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship is to train fellows to:

  1. Develop competence in recognizing the fundamentals of prevention, evaluation, and management of all aspects of pulmonary disease and critical care.
  2. Develop basic and advanced bronchoscopy skills for evaluation and management of pulmonary disease.
  3. Develop basic and advanced procedural skills for the evaluation and management of the critically ill patients.
  4. Recognize the significance and utilize a multidisciplinary approach in the health care management of pulmonary and critically ill patients.
  5. Interpret findings of thoracic radiographic imaging, pulmonary function testing, pulmonary pathology, and laboratory analysis to develop effective, patient-centered treatment plans.
  6. Synthesize and critically interpret the literature, participate in quality improvement projects, and conduct clinical research.
  7. Apply best clinical practices to improve health outcomes and patient safety.

In addition to clinical duties, pulmonary & critical care medicine fellows participate in scholarly activity, research, quality improvement, and training of residents and medical students. They have opportunity to work in ongoing clinical trials and research projects as well as spend time in our advanced simulation center to improve endoscopic skills and critical procedural and management skills.
