Graduate Medical Education

Educational Activities

Dental medicine

The St. Luke’s Dental Residency Program includes medical science conferences (ACGME competency series and Grand Rounds) and didactic courses in the dental specialties. Attendance at the Lehigh Valley Health Network/University of Pennsylvania lecture continuing dental education series is part of the academic year. This continuing education program consists of eight full-day courses given by nationally recognized speakers in various dental and practice management specialties. Residents also will attend the Valley Forge Dental Conference. Optional CE is available to each resident that they may use with their individual CE stipend of $2,000. Many of our residents choose to attend the ADA Annual Session.

Didactic lectures also are scheduled at St. Luke’s University Hospital – Bethlehem Campus and other hospitals in the area.

Case presentations are discussed the last Friday of each month, together with the attendings. Treatment plans are reviewed at that time.

All case presentations should include patient information, health histories (including any medical consults), treatment plan, study models, X-rays, clinical charting, perio-probings, patient photos and, if available, a PowerPoint presentation with several slide photos, outcomes assessment and a long-term prognosis that offers an explanation of how will the patient benefit from dental care provided, etc.
