Ongoing Support for Your Weight Loss Journey
Whether you join our medical weight loss program or choose to have surgery with us, your journey is our journey and we are with you every step of the way. Our team of experienced nurses, physicians, surgeons, social workers, dietitians and others will be there to help you. We offer monthly support group programs, open and private (closed) weight management Facebook groups where you can interact with our team members and other patients and numerous educational and social activities throughout the year.
Bariatric Fashion Show
Held every spring, this annual event highlights the weight loss achieved by our patients. Cheered on by their families, loved ones and the St. Luke’s Weight Management team, patients model the latest spring fashions and celebrate the weight loss they have achieved.
Healthy Steps at Any Size 5k
The goal of St. Luke’s Weight Management Center’s annual 5K walk is to encourage people of all shapes and sizes to enjoy being active together. Children and families are welcome, and a number of St. Luke’s weight loss patients participate in this fun Saturday morning event held at the Bethlehem Township Municipal Park.
Symposium
Symposium is an annual event where healthcare professionals gather to share the latest research, treatments, and best practices in weight management and bariatric care. It's a valuable opportunity for education, collaboration, and professional development.
More information to come on the 10th Annual Weight Management Symposium.
Support groups
Recent studies have shown that patients who regularly attend bariatric support group meetings lose more weight and are more successful in maintaining their weight loss. For this reason, weight loss surgery support group participation is highly recommended and strongly encouraged for any individual having or considering weight loss surgery. All are welcome; adults only, please.
Our support groups are held 2 times monthly and are virtual:
- 3rd Monday of every month at 6:00 PM – Join evening meeting
- 2nd Wednesday of every month at 12:00 PM – Join afternoon meeting
During the support group nutrition and exercise topics are always touched upon. Guest speakers may discuss topics ranging from stress management and body image to foot problems and clothing tips. Open forums are held once or twice a year to give you the opportunity to ask questions of the bariatric team and patients. Meetings provide the opportunity to share success stories and to find the patient in the audience from their “before surgery picture.”
Although not a replacement for attending the support groups, the bariatric services Facebook support page is another place to have your questions answered and to share in the struggles, concerns and achievements of other bariatric surgery patients. Here, you can also find agendas for our upcoming support groups. Once you become a St. Luke’s Weight Management Center patient you can join our Facebook page by going to St. Luke’s Bariatric Patient Forum on Facebook. The Facebook support page should not be used for quick replies or for discussing medical problems. Please always call the office with a medical concern or question.
