St. Luke’s Care Now Opens 10th Walk-In Center in Hamburg

October 02, 2017

Residents invited to tour facility, celebrate opening October 7

People living in Hamburg and its surrounding communities now have convenient access to quality St. Luke’s walk-in care at the new St. Luke’s Care Now in Hamburg.

The newest of 10 St. Luke’s Care Now facilities, the Care Now-Hamburg location opens Monday, October 2.

Members of the community can see all that St. Luke's Care Now-Hamburg and adjacent outpatient physical therapy offices have to offer during a Community Open House on Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The open house will feature free food and drink, blood pressure screenings and giveaways to celebrate the opening.

  • What: St. Luke's Care Now-Hamburg Community Open House
  • When: Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon
  • Where: 9 Dave’s Way in Hamburg

Visitors will be able to tour the facility, learn about the services available and meet the care team, which includes doctors, advanced practice nurses, nurses, medical assistants, and radiology technicians.

“We are very excited to bring our St. Luke’s Care Now walk-in center to the Hamburg area,” said Joe Cunningham, Network Director of Urgent Care & Occupational Medicine Services at St. Luke’s University Health Network.

Care Now is not intended to replace an individual’s primary care physician or manage chronic health concerns. Instead, St. Luke’s Care Now-Hamburg provides treatment when a patient's family doctor is unavailable, or when a patient's injury or illness requires immediate attention, but is not an acute emergency. Patients will find it convenient for fever and flu-like symptoms, sinus infections, bronchitis, sprains, strains, broken bones, dislocations, cuts, minor burns, animal bites and other minor medical concerns.

“Because the cost of care is usually lower than an emergency room visit, Care Now is a time-efficient and cost-effective option,” Cunningham said.

No appointment is ever needed. In addition to walk-in medical care, St. Luke’s Care Now locations offer onsite diagnostic testing and occupational medicine services to employers. Patients are also able to take home many common prescription medications.

St. Luke’s Care Now-Hamburg is the tenth walk-in care center operated by St. Luke’s. Other centers are located in Allentown, Bethlehem, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, New Ringgold, Quakertown, Upper Perkiomen and Wind Gap in Pennsylvania, and in Clinton, New Jersey.

St. Luke’s Care Now-Hamburg’s hours will be 8 am to 8 pm Monday through Friday and from 8 am to 4 pm Saturdays and Sundays. It is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

St. Luke’s Care Now-Hamburg's phone number is 610-628-7201. For complete information on all St. Luke’s Care Now locations, services and hours, visitwww.stlukescarenow.org.

Hamburg Family Practice will open at the site October 16. In addition, patients can receive physical therapy at the Hamburg location. The physical therapy offices also open October 16.
