Holistic Back, Neck Pain Specialist Joins St. Luke’s Spine & Pain Associates
December 28, 2017
Rammurti A McKenzie, MD
Pain management specialist Dr. Rammurti McKenzie’s approach to treatment starts with conservative measures.
“I believe that diet, physical therapy and pain management techniques should be part of their treatment,” he said. “My goal is to help my patients feel better while needing little or no medication. I like to get them to the point where they don’t need medication and don’t need to see me every month or every other month.”
McKenzie, MD, recently joined St. Luke’s University Health Network’s St. Luke’s Spine & Pain Associates. He sees patients at two locations: 145 N. Railroad Street in Tamaqua and 575 S. Ninth Street in Lehighton.
He helps patients manage pain in their back, neck and spine caused by a number of conditions including herniated or degenerated disks, sciatica, pinched nerves and spinal stenosis. He also treats those who have pain from back surgeries including spinal fusion.
McKenzie was eager to come to St. Luke’s from Mount Laurel, New Jersey, because his new colleagues at Spine & Pain Associates share his holistic approach to pain management, he said. McKenzie said he learned from personal experience that an anti-inflammatory diet can make a huge difference. He found it helped his knee pain and his overall health considerably.
McKenzie earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed a pain fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
In his free time, McKenzie enjoys visiting antique shops with his wife, doing home improvement projects and playing tennis. A native of California, he and his wife live in Allentown.
McKenzie welcomes new patients. For more information or to make an appointment call 484-526-7246. McKenzie is in Tamaqua Monday through Friday with the exception of two Thursdays a month when he is in Lehighton.
