Research & Scholarly Activity

Involvement in research and other scholarly activities throughout fellowship training is expected. St. Luke’s-Anderson Endocrinology fellows are required to create a research project and quality improvement project which will last through both years of training. Planning for this project begins in the first few months of the first year and will continue throughout their two years of training under the guidance of a mentor until completion prior to graduation. Fellows will meet at least quarterly with their project mentor until completion.

Scholarly activities can be pursued in areas outside of the endocrinology department such as surgery, pediatric endocrinology, reproductive endocrinology, genetics, internal medicine, family medicine, cardiology, etc. In addition, fellows are encouraged to present and publish their findings in the form of case reports, poster presentations, original articles, etc. at national conferences and in peer- reviewed publications.
