Extraordinary Care for Extraordinary Kids

Few experiences are scarier than taking a child to a doctor's office or hospital and learning that complex medical services are needed. In an instant, life changes for every member of the family, especially if the child must travel out of the area for specialized care.

Fortunately, St. Luke's is making a significant investment in children's health—one that will give local parents peace of mind and convenient access to specialized pediatric care, right here in Bethlehem. A new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is being built as part of a significant expansion, dedicated to improving pediatric health care within the region and providing advanced care to critically ill children close to home. In addition to adding pediatric critical care specialists, the expansion includes several new pediatric subspecialists and primary care physicians.

The unit will be equipped with the latest technology and staffed with pediatric critical care specialists (intensivists), available to care for children 24/7. St. Luke’s pediatric intensivists and nurses are specially-trained to be sensitive to the needs of children and teenagers who are experiencing critical illness or injuries.
