St. Luke’s Singers to Perform Annual Spring Concert
April 05, 2016

Bethlehem, PA (4/5/2016) -- The St. Luke’s Singers will present the ensemble’s annual Spring Concert on Sunday, April 24 at Wesley Methodist Church in Bethlehem. The prelude will begin at 2:45 p.m., and the concert will begin at 3 p.m.

The first half of the concert contains a sacred repertoire that includes “The Heavens Are Telling” by Haydn and the spiritual “Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit” arranged by William Dawson. The choir is also working on The King Singers’ arrangement of “Gift to Be Simple” and Mark Hayes’ contemporary setting of “Wade in the Water” that includes brass, piano and the rhythm section.

In the second half of the program, the singers will perform two folk songs. The first is an Israeli melody entitled “Erev Shel Shoshanim,” and the second is a new adaptation of “Shenandoah” by Jeff Funk. Instrumentalists will join the choir on Cole Porter’s “It’s De-Lovely” and “Singin’ in the Rain” from the 1952 film.

The program closes with “The Rhythm of Life” from the musical Sweet Charity by Cy Coleman, Dorothy Fields and Neil Simon.

Please join the St. Luke’s Singers for an afternoon filled with music from many different times and places. Tickets are $12 and may be obtained by calling 610-759-6325 or by visiting the hospital gift shops, located at St. Luke's University, Allentown, Anderson, and Warren hospital campuses.
