“Having Dr. Abeysekera join us allows us to offer even more to our patients,” Dr. Warholic said.

A California native, Dr. Abeysekera completed her undergraduate work at the University of California – San Diego, and earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies.

She recently completed her residency at St. Luke’s where she served as the Administrative Chief Resident.

Dr. Abeysekera said that continuing her career with St. Luke’s was an easy decision because of its quality and the amicability of the staff.

“I value the training I received here and I really enjoyed working with my new partners,” she said. “We work well as a team and we share a philosophy regarding how we treat our patients.”

“I think it’s important not only to listen to your patients, but also to help make the most appropriate medical decisions with them,” she said, “especially during labor, to listen to exactly what they want. This is their labor experience. At the same time, we reaffirm that the ultimate goal is a healthy mom and a healthy baby.”

Obstetrics and gynecology appealed to her because she had the opportunity to build relationships with women during some of the most important moments of their lives: from family planning and childbirth through menopause and beyond.

Dr. Abeysekera enjoys listening to music, going to concerts and traveling when she’s not working. She also enjoys the outdoors, especially the beach.
