Short Term Observing

Treating eye and vision conditions

Thank you for your interest in a short-term observation experience at St. Luke’s!

Short-term observation experiences (1 – 3 days max experience anywhere at SLUHN) are limited due to high volumes. In order to participate, students must:

  • Various immunizations are required prior to observing, which include the annual seasonal flu shot, covid vaccine or attest to having COVID-19 virus and several other required immunizations.
  • Be at least 16 years old, enrolled in high school or post-secondary education.
  • Have a sincere interest in pursuing a health care career.*
  • * Due to high volumes of medical students, physician (MD/DO) shadowing is only considered for those who have completed their first year as a premed student in college. Individuals enrolled or who have graduated from medical school (nationally or internationally) would not qualify for this type of short-term observation experience.

click this link » to share your interest in shadowing a department, which includes your availability, area of interest, etc. Requests should be with advance notice, no earlier than four (4) weeks from now. If a department is able to sponsor your request, the department manager will be connect with you directly with the paperwork for completion. Please note: not all requests can be accommodated.

We highly recommend participating in our volunteer program to have a more diverse experience.
