St. Luke’s OB/GYN A Woman’s Place in Bethlehem has hired Board-certified nurse practitioner Raquel Nunez, a former U.S. Army Reserves officer with years of diverse experience in family practice, emergency medicine and women’s health.
Nunez is a bilingual (English and Spanish) provider who is dedicated and patient-focused.
“Having Raquel as a member of our provider team allows us to offer increased access for our patients for appointments and offers them another alternative for care with a female provider,” says Christine Frantz, Practice Administrator at St. Luke’s OB/GYN A Woman’s Place.
“Raquel can see patients for well woman examinations as well as problem visits and contraception, and she also works in coordination with our providers with our obstetrical patients. She is very compassionate with her patients, and is also bilingual which is very advantageous to our practice and patients.”
At St. Luke’s OB/GYN A Woman’s Place, Nunez joins the experienced provider team of Kristin Abbruzzi, DO and Johnnie Willis, MD.
Nunez graduated from DeSales University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2010) and her Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner (2014). She will earn her Doctorate of Nurse Practice in the Clinical Leadership Track in 2020.
Nunez is a Board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a U.S. Department of Transportation Certified Medical Examiner. She is also certified in Basic Life Support, and as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for Adults and Adolescents.
She boasts a range of other experiences that include serving as a clinical instructor for nursing students, being part of a medical mission team that traveled to Haiti to offer medical care, and volunteering to provide acute and chronic care management to residents of a local homeless shelter.
Nunez also served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves’ Army Nurse Corps. She is a member of both the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners.
Her focus is on health promotion, education and counseling, and on guiding her patients to make smarter lifestyle choices. She provides women with compassionate, sound and personalized care, Frantz notes.
“Our practice is small and we maintain a personal relationship between our providers and patients,” Frantz says. “This fosters a relationship that allows continued growth within the practice with many of our patients referring family members and friends.”
St. Luke’s OB/GYN A Woman’s Place is currently located at 685 Delaware Avenue in Bethlehem. However, it will be relocating to South Third Street in Bethlehem.
“It is a larger and more modern facility that will allow us to serve our clients more efficiently,” Frantz explains. “Our goal is to continue to offer the highest level of care in a setting that is comfortable and professional, and allows us to better meet the needs of our clients.”
