Weight Management Center

Do I Qualify

St. Luke’s is pleased to offer both surgical and non-surgical approaches to better manage, care for and overcome obesity.

For patients who are not interested in bariatric surgery or do not qualify for surgery, our medical weight management program may be beneficial. To qualify for our medical weight loss program, your BMI must be greater than 25.

A note about insurance: Most insurance policies still will not cover obesity alone as a medical problem. Hopefully this will change in the future, but for now, in order for insurance companies to pay for your visit, you must have at least 1 obesity related medical problem such as: diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, back pain, joint pain, shortness of breath, insomnia, fatigue, etc. All of these conditions and many others will improve as you lose weight, making weight loss an essential part of your treatment plan. It is OK if another physician is also treating you for these conditions. If you are uncertain if you have an obesity-related medical condition, please give us a call and we will be happy to help you.
