Message from the Chair of Psychiatry

I have the pleasure of serving as the chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at St. Luke’s University Health Network, an opportunity I consider one of the biggest accomplishments in my professional life.

I have the honor of being a part of an excellent team of competent psychiatrists and advanced practitioners as well as nursing staff and other health care workers. We each have strength and expertise in various fields of psychiatry, from child and adolescent to geriatric, consultation and electroconvulsive therapy. Teaching and training the next generation of physicians and psychiatrists is a major priority and our passion. We have expanded the scope of our services to a vast geographical area. We have nearly 170 psychiatric beds in our system including three older adult behavioral health units, four general adult units and one extended acute care unit. We have an efficient and large outpatient clinic as well as two partial hospitalization programs. We also provide consultative services to area nursing homes.

St. Luke’s, recognized for four consecutive years as an IBM Watson Health 100 Top Major Teaching Hospital, is a 14,000-employee health system with more than 1,400 physicians and 10 hospitals spanning northeastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey. St. Luke’s is rapidly growing, financially strong and has sustained high, reputable quality ratings. St. Luke’s offers a highly rewarding career and the opportunity to be part of a winning team.

Some of the most rewarding aspects of being part of the St. Luke’s family are the collegiality, warmth and friendly relationships that exist among all members of the Department of Psychiatry as well as throughout our network.

I look forward to the opportunity to learn more about you and to share more about the wonderful opportunities St. Luke’s University Health Network has to offer. This place can truly change your life through a most fulfilling career.
