St. Luke’s All-Star Female Team of the Year Nominees

  • The Emmaus Field Hockey Team

    This team was undefeated this past season and went on to become Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Champions, District XI Champions and PIAA State Champions. Head coach Sue Butz-Stavin also reached a milestone - 1,000 career wins!
  • The Blue Mountain Girls’ Swim Team

    This team won their fourth consecutive District XI title and sent seven girls’ swim team members to the PIAA State Championship at Bucknell. They also earned four gold medals at Districts.
  • The Northampton Girls’ Softball Team

    This team finished 15 and 1 in the East Penn Conference and had the EPC’s MVP Taylor Kranzley. Six players went on to the All-Conference Team, including four players with First Team honors.

St. Luke’s All-Star Male Team of the Year Nominees

  • The Moravian Academy Boys’ Soccer Team

    For nine consecutive years, this team has won the District XI Championship in boys’ soccer. This past year, they advanced all the way to the PIAA State Quarterfinals.
  • The Saucon Valley Wrestling Team

    This team overcame adversity to win the PIAA Class 2A Team Wrestling State Championship. They came together at the right time, sustaining and overcoming numerous injuries throughout the season.
  • The Liberty High School Baseball Team

    This successful team won the District XI Championship and is under the winningest coach in Liberty High School Baseball history, Head Coach Andy Pitsilos. Four student athletes signed to further their academic career while playing baseball in college.

St. Luke’s All-Star Coach of the Year Nominees

  • Darien Vercillo

    Varsity Head Coach of the Moravian Academy Girls’ Soccer Team
    Coach Vercillo guided the Moravian Academy Girls’ Soccer Team to four consecutive District XI Championships. She is also heavily involved in the Lehigh Valley soccer community as a goalkeeper trainer and mentor.
  • Chad Shirk

    Varsity Head Coach of the Saucon Valley High School Wrestling Team
    Coach Shirk earned his 350th career victory and guided his team to the District XI PIAA Class 2A State Championship after a season riddled with injuries. Coach Shirk was named District XI Class 2A Wrestling Coaches Association Coach of the Year and the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association Class 2A State Coach of the Year.
  • Michelle Mihalko

    Varsity Head Coach of the Easton Area High School Girls’ Lacrosse Team
    Coach Mihalko started the Easton Girls’ Lacrosse Program almost 15 years ago, guiding the team through many challenging times. Under her leadership, the team has become East Penn Conference contenders. This past season, the team went on to win the district title, its first district championship in program history.

  • Marissa “Mo” Olenwine

    Parkland High School Senior
    Member of the Girls’ Soccer and Basketball Teams
    Marissa was diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition that resulted in hospitalization and several surgeries. It was a long road to recovery, but she was finally able to play in some basketball games that took her team to the District XI Championship. Marissa was actually the player to shoot a last minute three-pointer that gave her team the win over Northampton, and ultimately the District XI Championship.
  • Billinda Leisner

    Dock Mennonite Academy Sophomore
    Member of the Girls’ Soccer and Basketball Teams
    Billinda was faced with a personal family struggle, the loss of her father to lung cancer at a young age. Billinda also battled injuries that caused her to miss much of her sports season. Still, she achieved academically and found the grit to carry on through the soccer season to obtain an All-League Team placement.
  • Godwina Yalley Biney

    Dieruff High School Junior
    Member of the Girls’ Basketball and Track & Field Teams
    Godwina was raised in Ghana by family, while her mother came to the United States when she was just a year old to find opportunities for a better life. Godwina later joined her mother in the United States at 11 years old, adapted to her new home and found an outlet in sports. Godwina excels in shot-put and has one of the top throws in the district, a testament to her dedication to strength and conditioning training this past season.

St. Luke’s All-Star Female Athlete of the Year Nominees

  • Olivia Haas

    Blue Mountain High School Senior
    Member of the Girls’ Cross Country and Track & Field Teams
    Olivia is a Schuylkill League Division 1 All-Star and a District XI Gold Medalist in Cross Country. She took first place in several invitationals this past year and won her second PIAA State gold medal in Cross Country. She plans to attend North Carolina State University.
  • Kelly Leszcynski

    Nazareth Area High School Senior
    Member of the Girls’ Basketball, Soccer and Track & Field Teams
    Kelly is a 3-sport varsity athlete in Soccer, Basketball and Track and Field. A 1,000-point scorer in basketball, Kelly became the all-time leader in school history with 181 three-point baskets. She was the goalie for her soccer team and the district champ in the Javelin the past two Track and Field seasons and also won the PIAA Track & Field State gold in Girls 3A Javelin. A leader on and off the court, Kelly volunteered to help younger kids with sports and reading. She plans to attend Bloomsburg University.
  • Kailey Turpening

    Freedom High School Senior
    Member of the Girls’ Basketball, Soccer and Lacrosse Teams
    Kailey is a 3-sport varsity athlete in Lacrosse, Soccer and Basketball, and is a 1,000-point scorer in girls’ basketball with 178 career three-point baskets, breaking her school’s record. She is also involved in many school and community-based efforts, including coordinating a community blood drive. She plans to attend Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

  • Ben Krauss

    Salisbury High School Senior
    Member of the Football and Wrestling Teams
    A two-sport varsity athlete, Ben was named a 2022 District XI Scholar Athlete nominee. He is heavily involved in many community outreach projects, including the Wounded Warrior Summer Games, Touchdowns Against Cancer and others. He plans to attend Muhlenberg College.
  • Holden Garcia

    Notre Dame Green Pond Junior
    Member of the Wrestling Team
    Holden is a District, Regional and PIAA state wrestling champion. He plans to continue his wrestling career at Notre Dame in his senior year and is committed to Princeton University.
  • Blake Barthol

    Parkland High School Senior
    Member of the Baseball Team
    Blake is a five-tool baseball player with a batting average that hovers around 600. Blake has won back-to-back East Penn Conference MVP honors and is committed to Coastal Carolina next year.
