“I am honored to represent my interventional pain management colleagues in Pennsylvania,” says Dr. Loev, Medical Director of Pain Medicine,
St. Luke’s University Health Network. “The Society promotes the development and practice of safe, high quality and cost effective interventional pain management techniques and ensures that patients have access to these interventions.”

The Society accomplishes this through education, publications and advocacy, such as working with the United States Congress to pass universal safety measures.

Interventional pain specialists diagnose, reduce and treat pain through interventional procedures. These include pain-blocking techniques, such as spinal cord stimulation and injection therapies around nerves, tendons, joints or muscles. Due to the success of these procedures, interventional pain specialists often reduce their patients’ dependence on opioid pain medication.

A not-for-profit organization, ASIPP supports interventional pain physicians across the country and has grown rapidly since it was established in 1998.

Dr. Loev, who also serves as Clinical Assistant Professor (adjunct), Department of Anesthesiology, Temple University School of Medicine, completed a fellowship in interventional pain medicine at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine. Previously, he completed his anesthesia residency at Temple University School of Medicine and internship in internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey-Stratford. He received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Loev received the 2010 Purdue Partners Against Pain Award, which recognizes those who have made great strides in the field of pain research, management or improving the quality of life for people living with acute and/or chronic pain. Previously, he received the 2005 Pfizer Scholar in Pain Management, which honors a fellow for outstanding contributions to research and patient care in pain management.

He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association; the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association; the American Society of Anesthesiologists; the Pennsylvania Medical Society; the American Academy of Pain Medicine and the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
