Radiology Residency

Our four-year training program is primarily based out of St. Luke’s Anderson campus in Easton, PA with occasional rotations at the Bethlehem Campus for IR, the Regional Breast Center for Mammography, and the Upper Bucks campus for the cardiothoracic rotation.

The St Luke’s Hospital - Anderson campus is an expanding teaching hospital, selected as the primary site for this residency because of its diverse patient population that is growing, its up-to-date facilities, its location that provides access to care for an underserved community, the motivated and skilled faculty, and the opportunity to build an educational program around the needs of the residents and the patient community they will serve.

St. Luke's Anderson Campus has over 23,000 square feet of dedicated education and research space to support GME (Graduate Medical Education) programs and the campus learning environment including a fully staffed GME office. This 3,600 sq. ft. Office of Medical Education at St. Luke’s Anderson Campus includes offices for residency program directors, program coordinators, shared workspace for residents and faculty, and a large conference room. The evidence-based design is centered on inter-disciplinary collaboration between residency programs to create a dynamic and high-quality educational experience for our residents. There are also offices for a research manager and medical educator who will focus on scholarly activity and faculty development. The contemporary design exemplifies the progressive and forward-thinking values at the Anderson Campus.

Additional education facilities include a full simulation center, skills lab, and standardized patient rooms for trainees to learn. There are 14 on-call rooms including shower facilities and lockers. All call rooms are equipped with twin beds, 32” TV’s, including workstations with desktop computers. There is 20,000 sq. ft. of educational space, specifically dedicated to resident education. This includes a full-service café with 24/7 grab-and-go hot food and coffee for residents. There is a quiet study area with 10 computer terminals and a small group study space. The residents have access to all facilities 24/7. The GME conference space includes: two – 32 seat lecture rooms with video conferencing technology. The space includes 5 – 12 seat conference rooms with 70” video screen TVs for group meetings and conferencing between campuses. The space includes a 150-seat auditorium for large group presentations which are equipped with large presentation screens and have functionality for video conferencing technology for shared education sessions between St. Luke’s hospital campuses or other educational facilities. All conference spaces have state-of-the-art technology for presentations and video conferencing. Radiology residents will gain exposure to a high volume and wide variety of pathologies from cases performed directly at the Anderson campus, including trauma and oncologic imaging. This will be supplemented by access to cases from the other campuses and outpatient imaging centers across the St. Luke's Health Network through an integrated PACS system.

Furthermore, residents will train alongside colleagues in eight other residencies including psychiatry, transitional year, internal medicine, neurology, dermatology, family medicine, otolaryngology, and emergency medicine programs. This experience will equip residents to provide exceptional patient care and become effective imaging consultants. Faculty will be staffed to provide 24/7 supervision and availability for the residents.

The St Luke’s University Hospital- Bethlehem campus is a teaching hospital, selected as the secondary site for this residency because of its diverse patient population, its location that provides access to care for an underserved community, as well as the motivated and skilled faculty. The Bethlehem campus also serves as the St. Luke’s health network internal tertiary transfer and referral center for patients at the satellite campuses who require a higher level of care. Radiology residents will rotate through Interventional Radiology at this campus, which contains three angiography suites including a bi-plane system. There is also one CT room dedicated for image guided drainages and biopsies. Residents will be exposed to both basic and complex interventional cases during this rotation.

Residents will also rotate at the Regional Breast Center, part of the St. Luke’s University Hospital Bethlehem campus, for mammography. This experience will expose residents to screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and MRI as well as image guided breast procedures.
