Robert C. Langan, MD, FAAFP
Program Director, Family Medicine Residency
Dr. Langan was named the Family Medicine Residency Program Director at the Sacred Heart Campus in April 2018 after serving as the Program Director at the Bethlehem Campus for 12 years. A graduate of the Albany Medical College in New York, he completed his family medicine training at Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida. He served an additional four years in the U.S. Navy, including three years as Department Head of Family Medicine and Pediatrics at Naval Hospital Cherry Point, NC. He joined the faculty of St. Luke’s in October 2003 and completed a National Institute of Program Directors Development fellowship in 2009. Dr. Langan has published over 20 papers, and lectured regionally, nationally, and internationally. In 2015, he was named the Exemplary Teacher of the Year by the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Langan and his wife have seven children.

Manuel Puente, MD
Associate Program Director, Family Medicine Residency & Clerkship Director
Dr. Puente is originally from the Dominican Republic, but grew up in south Florida. He returned to the Dominican Republic to study medicine at the Universidad Iberoamericana (Unibe), graduating with honors. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Campus, serving as chief resident from 2018 – 2019. He is fluent in Spanish and cherishes the connections he has built with the Latino community in downtown Allentown. Dr. Puente has previous teaching experience as professor of anatomy and physiology at Broward College and volunteering with the Red Cross as a First Aid/CPR instructor. A lifelong athlete, former personal trainer, and avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu jitsu, Dr. Puente enjoys staying active and employs these experiences in his approach to treating and preventing chronic disease.

Mame Saye Cisse, MD
Faculty, Family Medicine Residency
Dr. Cisse is a native of Senegal, West Africa. She later, relocated in the South Bronx of New York City before attending St George’s university for medical school. Dr. Cisse is a graduate of St Luke’s Sacred Heart Family Medicine residency where she completed the academic track.

Dr. Cisse has an especial interest in Breastfeeding medicine, Women health, Community medicine and resident’s well-being.

She has always had a passion for global health. She is the founder of a non-profit organization “Global Donation” that focuses on aiding underserved rural hospitals in developing countries. With this organization, she has travelled to several countries for humanitarian work.

Dr. Cisse is a wife, and a mother who enjoys spending time with her family and loved ones. She enjoys traveling, cooking, learning about new cultures and helping others.

Ehren Emter, PsyD
Faculty, Family Medicine Residency & Assistant Director of Behavioral Science
Dr. Ehren Emter (they/them/theirs) joined the Sacred Heart Family Medicine Residency Faculty in November 2022 after completing a post-doctoral fellowship in Primary Care Behavioral Health at the University of Minnesota Medical School Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. They have a Doctor of Psychology in Counseling Psychology from Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Emter developed a passion for integrated care, wellness, and development of medical professionals during graduate level training as well as throughout ten years with the U.S. Army Medical Community. Their dissertation research explored individual psychological factors that contribute to burnout in medical professionals. Dr. Emter brings to the team years of experience consulting with medical teams and providing behavioral health services to patients in primary care, short- and long-term medical inpatient, residential chemical dependence, as well as outpatient mental health settings. Their areas of clinical interest include provision of interdisciplinary healthcare to sexual orientation and gender diverse populations, neurodiverse populations, individuals with chronic pain, as well as patients struggling with chemical dependence. When not at work Dr. Emter enjoys reading, spending time with chosen family, and hiking.

Kourtni A. Hines-Smith, MD
Faculty, Family Medicine Residency & Clerkship Site Director
Dr. Hines-Smith was born and raised in Texas but spent most of her formative years in Jamaica. She attended medical school at the University of the West Indies, after which she practiced for five years in rural parts of Jamaica. She furthered her medical education at St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Campus Family Medicine Residency, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. She is particularly interested in Lifestyle Medicine, Women’s Health and Financial Well-Being. In her free time, Dr. Hines-Smith loves to engage in community outreach initiatives. She truly enjoys exploring different cultures, expanding her culinary skills and doing almost anything with her family.

Jarret LeBeau, PharmD, BCACP
Clinical Pharmacist
Dr. LeBeau is a clinical pharmacist embedded directly in our family medicine residency and clinic. He is a Pennsylvania native passionate about evidenced based medicine and chronic disease state management. He completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy at Wilkes University in 2018. He practiced as an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist over the next 5 years, specializing in diabetes mellites and anticoagulation. He has earned his board certified in ambulatory care through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties. Dr. LeBeau acts as a drug information resource for the clinic. He hopes to expand learners’ knowledge in all drug related areas that affect clinical decision making such as newly FDA approved agents, pharmacokinetic and dynamics, drug administration, dosing, and market/insurance updates. Outside of work he can usually be found in the outdoors, hiking, skateboarding, snowboarding, and enjoying time with friends and family.

Alexandra Puente, MD
Faculty, Family Medicine Residency
Dr. Puente completed her Family Medicine Residency at St. Luke’s Sacred Heart Campus in 2019, where she received the Jerome Collier Award for professionalism, dedication to patient care and high moral and ethical conduct. She is board-certified in Family Medicine and has spent the four interim years working in the outpatient primary care setting.

The uniqueness of family and preventative medicine has allowed Dr. Puente the opportunity to understand the importance of the patient-physician bond and nurtured her philosophy of the importance of wellness both in body and spirit.

Formerly from New Jersey, she has grown to appreciate Allentown and the beauty of the Lehigh Valley area. Outside of work, Dr. Puente may be found at the local Allentown tennis courts or yoga studios. She is also an avid gardener, animal lover and cat owner.

Rehab Tabchi, DO
Faculty, Family Medicine Residency & Office Medical Director
A native of Allentown, Dr. Tabchi attended Dickinson College and went on to attain her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed the Sacred Heart Family Medicine Residency Program where she was the Chief Resident of the program. Her previous experience includes working for Geisinger Health System for five years before joining Sacred Heart Hospital. She is an active member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Association, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physician Society. She was instrumental in obtaining Patient Centered Medical Home status for the residency practice.
